This Is How You Love Someone Who Thinks Too Much

Everyone has baggage – whether it’s from past relationships or from life in general. You use your lived experience to form your interpretation of the present. You might find yourself in a position where you care deeply for someone who tends to overanalyze things. It’s important to be patient with them. Here are some ways to show someone who overthinks just how much you care.

Make them feel comfortable enough to be themselves
It can feel scary to show people who you really are, especially in this person’s case; they may have deep insecurities. The worst thing in the world is to feel like you’re being judged by the people you love – and that may be one thing that’s constantly running through their mind. The best thing you can do in this situation is to make them feel at home. This can be as easy as just listening with an open heart, laughing at their jokes and supporting them when they break down. The most important thing is to make yourself available as a resource.

If you find yourself getting frustrated, take a step back
Every once in awhile, it might be helpful to remind yourself that they can’t help how they feel at times. You might have to talk them out of an overly frenzied state. If you feel yourself getting fed up, breathe deeply. It isn’t fair to take your frustration out on them, even if it does get to be a bit much sometimes. If you love them, be willing to see past this into the incredible person they are.

Don’t make blind promises – act on your word
Insecure people need constant reassurance and validation; they need to know that you love them  (even after you’ve just expressed it). In order to reinforce your love for this person, show them you care through physical or visual actions rather than words.

Be ready and willing to share
It’s important to have an open line of communication with your partner, even more so if they are constantly questioning your relationship. It may be necessary to put yourself out there first in order to make your partner feel like they can trust you and that they’re not burdening you with their troubles. Let them know that you’re there for them by being as open and honest as you can. However, if their insecurity is getting in the way of their daily functioning, it could be beneficial to suggest outside help.
